Invite your friends and brave the madness as you descend into these award-winning haunted houses with actors who are paid to give you nightmares!

Scary Acres

Where? 17272 Giles Road

Scary Acres is the 2024 First Place winner of Best of Omaha Haunted Houses, so add this attraction to the top of your list! Scary Acres first opened in 2002 but its storied history in Omaha dates back to 1993 with the Train of Terror at Peony Park. The season kicked off on September 13th and is set to run through November 2nd. With 20 acres of Halloween-inspired fear, Scary Acres is home to three horrifying attractions: the Master’s Castle, the House on the Hill, and the Haunted Woods. Grab a Speed Pass for a VIP experience, allowing you to skip the long line! Throughout the season, there will be various specials and themed nights. Sundays are family nights with free glow items for the kids and every Wednesday in October is student night where you can snag $3 off a combo pass with a student ID. Visitors can also bring donations for the food bank (1 can of food for $1 off any single attraction or up to $3 off with 3 cans of food on a combo ticket) on Sundays through Thursdays.

Ranch of Terror and “Darkness”

Where? 11001 South 48th Street

Experience The Hayride at Bellevue Berry & Pumpkin Patch. This thrilling horror experience features a twisted walk through the haunted house, as well as caves and the zombie jail before you hitch a ride through the woods! With over 35 years in the haunted attraction industry, visitors won’t be disappointed. This is Nebraska’s longest haunted attraction, boasting over an hour and a half of frightening experiences. Nighttime haunted activities at Ranch of Terror aren’t recommended for children under 6 for the Haunted Hayride, children under 10 for the Haunted House, or pregnant women or people with heart and/or seizure health issues. The ranch offers a “no scare” Halloween night and daytime events for families with little ones who want to avoid the bulk of the horror. If you’ve visited Ranch of Terror in previous years, be prepared for an even more exciting experience this year! The scares are being notched up so buy your tickets if you dare. The season runs from September 13th through October 31st.

Dungeon of the Damned

Where? 1209 Jackson Street

Dungeon of the Damned kicks off on September 27th and runs through October 31st, giving you over a month to pay a visit to this labyrinth of horror, fun and surprises. Face your fears and fuel your nightmares for the remainder of 2024 as you embark on a hosted guided tour around the haunt. There are no scare actors, which gives the younger crowd a chance to experience a haunt without being traumatized for the remainder of their adolescence. Grab your tickets online for $13 during family hours on Fridays and Saturdays or $20 for general admission on the weekends. If you want to make multiple trips, consider a season pass for $75! Visitors under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult. The haunt is recommended for people ages 13 and older. If you need a bite to eat to regain your energy after being scared, swing by one of the food trucks selling hot dogs, tacos, and “Damned Good Drinks” such as cider, Hot Bloody chocolate, IV bags, and syringes.

Bloodrush: Forest of Terror

Where? 233rd & West Maple Road

This is Nebraska’s largest haunted attraction, so it should be at the top of your Halloween bucket list this year! Bloodrush has been around since September 2015, so the attraction is celebrating its 10th year in 2024! This Elkhorn haunted attraction is open for the season from September 27th through November 1st. Bloodrush features over a mile of pure terror as guests traipse through 4 acres of forest. There is a VIP Haunted party bus if you want to keep the fun times rolling. The average trip through Bloodrush takes anywhere from 30 to 40 minutes, so you’re sure to get your money’s worth! Various effects are used throughout the attraction, including strobe lights, fog, lasers, loud music, sudden noises, and uneven floors. Fridays and Saturdays are the busiest days, so plan on a weeknight visit or secure your VIP ticket for a fast pass experience. While all ages are welcome, children are not recommended to enter. Parental discretion is strongly advised.

Madness Haunted House

Where? 21534 Chestnut Road

This Council Bluffs haunted house is open from mid-September through October 31st for the 2024 season. Madness Haunted House recommends parental discretion for kids under 12. There will be a designated kid’s event on October 27th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM for younger visitors. Admission is priced at $25 per person or you can upgrade to a VIP fast pass for $40 per person. There’s even an instant access pass for $60 which skips the line altogether! If you love all things haunted, check out the Terror Trinity which is a collective of regional and national haunters who pride themselves on quality shows and who are committed to delivering big scares that you’ve never experienced before. The other two participants in the trinity include Sinister Sidney and the Eagle Hollow Scream Park.

Haunted Hollow Scream Park

Where? 12501 Old Giles Road

Located in nearby La Vista, the Haunted Hollow Scream Park is open from late September to October 31st for the 2024 Halloween season. The experience is not for the faint of heart, so only enter if you dare. New this year at the park are “The Timber” and “The Other,” so grab your tickets now to discover what these entail. Tickets are priced at $30 per person for general admission in cash, with an additional $2 charge if you’re paying with a credit card. The scream park is closed every Monday night except for October 28th and the hours run from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. There is free parking and a free shuttle, as well as an ATM onsite, and all sales inside the event are cash only. Food and drink options include funnel cakes, fried Oreos, footlong corn dogs, chicken strips, hot chocolate, cider, and more.

Hillside House of Hell

Where? 114 Green Street

Hillside House of Hell is in Glenwood, which is a quick half-hour drive from Omaha. The haunted house is open from September 13th through November 2nd, so you have plenty of time to experience one of the scariest haunted houses in the USA. The House of Hell features 50,000 square feet of fear all under one roof. This is Iowa’s largest haunted attraction! New for the 2024 season is the Motel Massacre attraction. You can save time, money, and the ticket lines when you purchase your tickets online. Cash and cards are accepted on-site for the convenience of the guests. The attraction is open rain or shine and while there is no age limit, parents should keep in mind that visitors will experience intense visual images, uneven paths, and loud noises. There is limited parking available on site and spaces fill up fast. Additional parking is available on marked lots and public streets. Pay attention to signage and avoid areas where parking is prohibited. Carpooling is highly recommended and way more fun! Special themed nights will be held on October 28th through 30th. There will be “No-Scare Trick ‘r Treating” on the 27th from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM with no actors and no scary effects.

Eagle Hollow Scream Park

Where? 617 South 238th Street

The Eagle Hollow Scream Park has won multiple awards over the years, including the Scariest Haunt in Nebraska in 2019 and recognition as one of the Scariest Haunted Houses in America in 2020. The season kicks off on September 27th and will continue through November 2nd, giving you various weekends to choose from if you want to embrace the nightmare. There are 3 unique attractions in the park, including Luminon, Night Terrors, and Darklands. Continue your fun at the fire pits or grab something at the concession stand. If you’re 21 and up, you can also grab a liquid shot of courage at the E.R. Bar. The scream park is part of the Terror Trinity, which also includes Madness and Sinister Sidney. You won’t break the bank visiting these attractions, with the pricing being some of the best value to be found in the metro area. On November 1st and 2nd, check out the special Halloween Never Dies event which is set to feature over 100 actors, including cast members from Eagle Hollow Scream Park, Sinister Sidney, and the Madness Haunted House in Council Bluffs. There will also be a kid’s event on October 20th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Roca Scary Farm

Where? 16531 South 38th Street

Roca Scary Farm is way more than a haunted house, it’s a whole haunted farm! Opening night for the 2024 season was on September 20th, so grab your tickets now for tickets to the haunted hayride, the haunted house, the “psycho path” and more. The farm ends the haunted activities on October 26th. There are brand new attractions, games, and rides this year that are included with admission. Haunts open at sundown, so brave the dark and see what’s in store for you at the farm. Tickets are priced at $29.95 plus tax when purchased online and $32.95 plus tax at the box office. If you visit the farm during the day for the fall festival and want to stick around for the Roca Scary Farm experience, you can upgrade your ticket at the customer service window. Visitors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a guardian who is 19 years of age or older. This year, the food bars are going cashless. Cash will still be accepted at the admission counter and the exit barn. Cash is also accepted at the shooting galleries and photo booths.

Museum of Shadows

Where? 1110 Douglas Street

The Museum of Shadows has been voted the most haunted museum in the world, so if you’re up to the spooky experience — make sure to visit the world’s largest collection of verified haunted artifacts. The museum is open year-round, though it’s especially scary to visit during the Halloween season. The museum is located across two levels, housing over 3,000 artifacts that have been donated from across the United States and from various countries. Visitors have claimed to have been physically touched, and to also have seen apparitions and heard voices when they visit. Poltergeist activity has even been captured by security cameras on site! You can snag ghost hunt tickets, where you’ll join museum founder, Nate, as the group investigates the haunted museum using top-of-the-line equipment. No reservations are required to visit and admission is priced at $20 per person. There is no age limit for visiting, though mature audiences are encouraged. The building is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and open from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM for the remainder of the week.
