Roast Coffeehouse has called Aksarben home since 2016. Roast is for coffee lovers who want to support a local business while enjoying high-quality caffeinated beverages. Aside from their delicious drinks, Roast also has an array of warm pastries for sale. When you visit the coffeehouse, rest assured that no coffee order will be judged — so go ahead and order the decaf or request an extra shot of vanilla for your latte. Want to brew a cup at home? Pick up some roasted varieties, including flavored bags such as amaretto, campfire dream, or chocolate raspberry!

Noname Café + Market

NoName is located in Omaha’s Inner Rail Food Hall and is open each day from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Swing by for a quick bite to eat or grab a coffee to go. Whether you want to keep your order basic with a drip coffee or you want to splurge a bit with a chai latte, the cafe has something for everybody. Inner Rail Food Hall

When you just can’t decide what sounds good, Inner Rail Food Hall is the place to go. With 10 tasty vendors, you can order from a combination and check out on just one bill. Named after the Aksarben horse racing track that used to call this location home, the food hall has an array of cuisine options — as well as a centralized bar. Enjoy Zaytuna’s Mediterranean bites or grab a pizza slice from Pop’s before heading to the Backstretch Bar and sipping on an inventive cocktail or your favorite local beer.

Pickleman’s Gourmet Cafe

Cirian’s has been proudly family-owned and operated since 1979. Due to the seasonal nature of the business, the drive-in market is only open nine months out of the year, with revolving inventory that’s geared towards the current weather conditions. During the summer, customers can find geraniums, annuals, potted plants, veggies, and endless herb options. The holiday season at Cirian’s boasts aisles of Christmas trees waiting to be picked up and decorated.

Weird Wild Stuff Vintage Clothing and Gifts

Pauli’s Sports Lounge

Pauli’s moved to their new home in Omaha’s Aksarben Village back in 2015. Ever since, they’ve been inviting patrons in to kick back, watch the game, and enjoy a cold drink. They’ve kept all of the comforts of the old-school lounge and upgraded it with new amenities. If you’re looking for a place to be in Aksarben on a game night, Pauli’s has an indoor and outdoor space that’s perfect for hanging out with a group of friends. Start your evening off with a happy hour drink or close the sports lounge out at 2:00 AM.

DJ’s Dugout Sports Bar

DJ’s has several locations throughout the Omaha Metro area, with the South 67th Street location being conveniently located for Aksarben residents. Known for its daily specials, the bar keeps patrons happy by offering weekday happy hours and 777 Tuesdays where you can get appetizers, signature cocktails, and 32-ounce draws for $7 each. Get the party started with a bourbon smash or a purple pucker lemonade while you watch the game or try your luck at the HD golf simulator. The beer selection is endless, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself staying late.

Outdoor Spaces in Aksarben 

There are multiple ways to get outside in Aksarben, including local parks and the Elmwood 18 Hole Golf Course. Families can enjoy a picnic at the park or spend the afternoon walking or biking on local paths.

Stinson Park

Stinson Park is a favorite amongst many Aksarben locals, as it offers an array of amenities such as the summer concert series and open-air markets throughout the year. There’s a dog park, picnic tables, and a playground for the little ones to enjoy. There are restrooms on-site, as well as walking paths that provide families with the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors.

Elmwood 18 Hole Golf Course

6232 Pacific Street

Tee times at Elmwood Golf Course can be reserved a week in advance and golfers can rent carts for $22. The course has public golf, league, and tournament play so check the schedule beforehand. If you want to work on your skills, the course also has instructors for lessons and a putting green. This city course is under the umbrella of Omaha Parks and Recreation and hosts various events during the spring and summer months.

Connie Claussen Field

2850 South 67th Street

The Connie Claussen Field in Maverick Park is home to the University of Nebraska Omaha’s softball team. First opened in March of 2021, the field has fixed seating for 650 and shares a concourse with the baseball field. To purchase admission to upcoming games, guests can either visit the Baxter Arena box office or buy verified tickets through Ticketmaster.

Tal Anderson Field

2850 South 67th Street

This college baseball field is home to the University of Nebraska Omaha’s baseball team. With fixed seating for up to 1,500 fans — games are sure to be loud! During baseball season, Omaha fans congregate at the field to cheer on the home team and enjoy classic concession snacks. Tickets for individual games or the season can be purchased online or at the Baxter Arena box office on campus.

Places of Interest in Aksarben

Aksarben has a handful of interesting activities, clubs, and TV-famous bakeries to check out. If you’re a fan of Food Network’s Cupcake Wars — Jones Bros Cupcakes is a must. Those who have always been curious about what it takes to learn to curl will want to head over to Holland Ice.

Baxter Arena

Omaha’s Baxter Arena is the place to be for an array of events, including concerts, graduations, and sporting events. The arena is home to the University of Nebraska Omaha’s hockey team and the school’s basketball and volleyball programs. Holland Ice at Baxter Arena also hosts public skate sessions, hockey and figure skating clubs, as well as the Aksarben Curling Club where newcomers can take learn-to-curl classes. All ages and abilities are welcome and all equipment will be provided. 

Jones Bros Cupcakes

2121 South 67th Street

Jones Bros Cupcakes became an instant hot spot in Omaha after appearing on Cupcake Wars. Bill Jones won the episode that the shop appeared on and the judges described his creation as an “edible valentine.” If you have a sweet tooth, this bakery is well worth checking out. Sip on a Strawberry Quencher with coconut milk and Jasmine tea or pair your sweet selection with a nitrogen-infused iced coffee. There are gluten-free cupcake options, as well as macaron sample boxes.
